Nutritional Content of Almond Milk

Almond milk is milk made from almonds. The high content of good fat, vitamin E, and folic acid make almonds a favorite of healthy lovers. Almond milk is usually consumed as a substitute for cow’s milk because it is free of lactose and casein (cow’s milk protein) which is a source of allergens for some people.

Nutritional Content of Almond Milk

This milk actually has a lower protein and calcium content than cow’s milk, but it is still good for body health. The main ingredient in milk is vitamin E which is beneficial for skin health. In addition, almond milk also contains 1 gram of fiber per glass so it is good for digestion.

Almond milk has a fairly low calorie content. Research conducted by the International Journal of Obesity and Related Metabolic Disorder states that the low calorie content of almond milk is more suitable for weight loss diets compared to low-fat animal milk.

Compared to cow’s milk, almond milk has a lower sodium content. This is certainly good for controlling blood pressure, especially for people with hypertension.

Vitamins and minerals contained in almond milk are an alternative for vegetarians as animal protein because they are cholesterol free. Almond milk is useful for the prevention of various digestive complaints such as thyroid gland disorders, constipation, ulcers, diabetes and kidney cleansing. This plant milk also counteracts free radicals, used in beauty products especially skin health and also lowers bad cholesterol. The content of folic acid helps the development of the fetus while Omega-9 contained in almond milk improves the performance and regeneration of brain cells.

The high content of vitamin B2 in almonds makes almond milk high in vitamin B2. According to research published by the Institute of Health vitamin B2 can help release energy from carbohydrates faster.

Mineral content in almond milk such as magnesium, calcium and zinc is very important in maintaining healthy hair. Other minerals such as selenium, zinc and vitamin E in almond milk improve sexual health and hormonal reproduction.
